It was a long time ago. The hare and the tortoise were two friends in a forest. The tortoise used to move much slower than the hare. The hare was proud of his speed. He always smiled a lot seeing the movement of the tortoise.
One day the hare asked him to race to make fun of the tortoise, the tortoise also agreed to race.
When all the animals came to know about this in the forest, then they gathered at the race place to enjoy the race. Everyone thought that the hare would win in the race because the tortoise used to move very slowly.
All the animals started boosting the excitement of the tortoise. As soon as the race started at the appointed time, the hare and the tortoise started running fast. In a short time, the hare disappeared from the eyes of all the animals because of his fast speed but the tortoise kept going at his pace.
Finding himself ahead in the race, the rabbit thought, now the tortoises are far behind. What is the hurry to win the race? Till the tortoise comes, I sit under the tree and take some rest. When he comes here, I will run fast and win the race.
After some time, while walking slowly, the tortoise also reached there but the rabbit still slept. When the rabbit’s eyes opened, he saw the tortoise reaching the victory line. The hare started running fast to win the race, but as soon as he got close, he saw that the tortoise was smiling after crossing the victory line. Rabbit’s pride was shattered.
The tortoise had won the race despite his slow pace, but the hare was defeated despite his speed.
Moral of The Hare and The Tortoise Story
Moral: Friends, this story teaches us that only one who works with patience and perseverance wins. We should never boast of ourselves.
